From April 8th to 11th, 2023, the 2023 Working Conference of the Science and Technology Development and Consulting Committee of the Chinese Anatomical Society and the Symposium on the Construction of Human Anatomy Laboratories, hosted by the Science and Technology Development and Consulting Committee of the Chinese Anatomical Society and organized by Chongqing University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, were held. Participating leaders and representatives also visited the anatomy laboratory and specimen bank of Chongqing University of Traditional Chinese Medicine (as well as a case study sharing session on the Deren Science and Education Project). The conference was a complete success! The participating leaders and representatives highly praised and fully affirmed the human anatomy laboratory and specimen bank project designed and constructed by Deren Science and Education.

Deren Education will promote and introduce this project to colleagues in the field of anatomy nationwide, providing a reference for anatomy teachers across the country in their laboratory construction. There is no best, only better! We welcome your criticism, corrections, and valuable opinions and suggestions.

I. Project Background

 1. After nearly 30 days of comprehensive research, discussion, and thorough demonstration of the project, and after listening to the opinions and suggestions of relevant design institutes, user representatives, and EPC construction units, the Deren team finally determined a scientific, professional, and practical design and construction plan!

2. In the first 30 days, the Deren team , with nearly 30 professional and technical personnel from management, safety, water, electricity, gas, heating, decoration, and equipment, visited the site three times to conduct on-site surveys, measurements, reports, Q&A sessions, discussions, and consultations before finally confirming the design and construction technical plan.

3. Within a short construction period of 120 days, the Deren team overcame numerous difficulties, especially the challenges of the pandemic and the nearly one-month lockdown. The Deren team worked together and overtime to ensure the successful completion and delivery of the project!

4. Special thanks: We would like to express our sincere gratitude to the leaders, teachers, and staff of Chongqing University of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Sinopharm Holding Chongqing Taimin Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. for their strong support to the Deren team in the design and construction of this project; especially for their strict requirements and oversight of design and construction processes and technologies; and for their strict requirements, supervision, and management throughout the construction process. We also thank everyone for their care, support, and assistance to the construction site personnel in terms of their living conditions and mental well-being during the pandemic !

II. Project's biggest highlights/advantages

1. It is currently the most complete integrated project in the field of anatomy with a single investment.

2. It is currently the most comprehensive turnkey project in the field of anatomy, covering everything from water, electricity, heating (bare water decoration) to equipment installation and commissioning.

3. It is currently the largest overall design and construction project of its kind in the field of anatomy, with the shortest construction time.

4. It is currently the most comprehensive and complete integrated project in the field of anatomy, with the most complete software and hardware equipment and facilities.

5. It is currently the best, healthiest, and most comfortable laboratory and specimen bank project in the field of anatomy.

III. Main Features of the Project

1. The most complete and comprehensive laboratory and specimen bank configuration .                       

The project includes 6 anatomy laboratories, 1 clinical anatomy laboratory, 2 digital anatomy laboratories, 2 laboratory preparation rooms, 1 body donation reception room, 1 body farewell room, 1 specimen disinfection and perfusion room, 1 specimen collection and handling room, 2 large specimen storage rooms (capable of accommodating 500 teaching specimens), 1 waste liquid collection and treatment room, 1 cold storage room, 1 model storage/preparation room, and 1 changing and shower room.

2. The most environmentally friendly, healthiest, and most comfortable environment.

1) The laboratory, specimen storage and related rooms have adopted the latest domestically designed air purification system, including a fresh air system, an ion purification system, an exhaust system and a formaldehyde exhaust treatment system.

2) The laboratory and auxiliary rooms are equipped with a brand-new central air conditioning system, which achieves a state of warmth in winter and coolness in summer.

3) In the laboratory and specimen bank of this project, all specimens are preserved using the new environmentally friendly specimen preservation solution of "Deren" invention patent product (which won the National Invention Patent Excellence Award), so that there is no formaldehyde odor in the environment.

3. The most scientific and professional design and construction.        

1) The project spanned multiple stages, overcame numerous technical barriers and difficulties, from unfinished houses and civil engineering buildings to turnkey projects, and was finally successfully completed and delivered for acceptance.

2) The water supply and drainage functions in the rooms involved in the project; the power supply layout and points, wiring, and power supply points of related equipment; the ventilation system design and structural issues between the original building and the project were scientifically and professionally demonstrated and discussed. The product configuration involving water supply, power supply, ventilation, etc., was all pre-reserved and pre-embedded and laid out in advance. The layout and construction of the floor height, wiring, conduit, etc. in the house avoided problems such as repeated construction. At the same time, all hidden rooms and concealed construction schemes were adopted.

The project is equipped with the most comprehensive hardware and software facilities currently used in domestic anatomy laboratories (including 3D, regional anatomy, VR, 4K, examination system, digital dissection table, micro-lecture recording system, etc.).

From the lobby and corridors to the laboratories, the farewell hall, and finally the specimen storage, each area features a series of cultural walls professionally designed and customized according to the subject matter, characteristics, and the style of the user organization.

The equipment includes a smart nano blackboard, an 86-inch touchscreen (high configuration), a 55-inch rotating all-in-one machine for students, a smart multi-functional lectern, a new multi-functional dissection table, height-adjustable student stools, a multi-functional LED shadowless lamp with recording capabilities, a mobile recording and display system, a stainless steel all-glass display cabinet with LED lighting, a streamlined stainless steel handwashing sink, a stainless steel mop sink, a stainless steel instrument cabinet, PVC environmentally friendly teaching models, environmentally friendly soft silicone models, teaching specimens (the dissection table and bottled boxes are uniformly preserved using environmentally friendly specimen preservation solution), and related cultural wall displays.
